It has emerged this morning that Jil Sander is back at Jil Sander because, apart from it being her label - Raf Simons made no cheddar for the company!!!!
While so many people admired, loved and wanted to own pieces of JS under Simons, it wasn't meant to be. The company reported that the brand made $100 million less then when Sanders was running the show AND it wasn't until last year that they finally broke even. Eeeep!
It's a little embarrassing but also puzzling! Simons created some of the best shows and memorable pieces at JS so why the bad sales? I thought certain things were sell out?
Apparently they justified what sounds slightly like a really heartless decision by adding that Simons wasn't exactly married to the company and could leave to go to Dior. Still it sounds a bit heartless.
It seems to be fine now but the figures do sound a little bit embarrassing for both Simons and the company.
